About Me

Network & Infrastructure Leader | Architect | Open Source Contributor

Who am I?

Well, I’m still a bit too lazy to describe myself. You can probably find something about me through your favorite search engine. :) But let me give it a try.

I’m Mahyuddin Susanto, also known as udienz — a network and infrastructure engineer, open-source contributor, and technology enthusiast based in Indonesia.

I’ve spent more than 15 years building, operating, troubleshooting, and improving IT infrastructure, with a particular focus on large-scale network environments, Linux systems, and service reliability. Over the years, my journey has evolved from hands-on system administration and network operations into infrastructure architecture, technical leadership, and strategic network management.

Currently, I work as a Senior Principal Network Engineer at Blibli, where I focus on designing and managing reliable, scalable network infrastructure. My role goes beyond keeping networks running: I work at the intersection of engineering and business, translating complex technical requirements into practical infrastructure strategies, improving operational processes, managing critical escalations, and helping engineering teams deliver reliable services.

Before joining Blibli, I was a Network Operation Lead at WOWNET. I also spent several years at Wowrack, taking on different roles ranging from System Engineer and Senior Linux Administrator to Senior Network Engineer. Those experiences gave me a broad perspective on infrastructure — from operating systems and servers to network architecture and large-scale operations.

Beyond the day job

My interest in technology goes beyond my professional responsibilities. I’m a long-time Linux and open-source enthusiast, and I believe that contributing to open-source projects is one of the best ways to learn, collaborate, and give something back to the community.

I’ve been involved in the Debian and Ubuntu ecosystems for many years:

  • Ubuntu Developer (MOTU) — contributing to Ubuntu since 2008.
  • Debian Maintainer — contributing to the Debian community since 2011.

Working with open-source communities has shaped the way I approach technology: stay curious, share knowledge, solve problems collaboratively, and never stop learning.

What I work with

My technical experience covers several areas of infrastructure engineering:

  1. Network Leadership & Strategy
Network operations, infrastructure roadmaps, engineering team leadership, incident management, and technical governance.

  2. Network Architecture & Routing
MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IPv4/IPv6, Site-to-Site VPN, traffic engineering, and bandwidth optimization.

  3. Multi-vendor Network Infrastructure
Cisco (Nexus, Catalyst, ASA), Juniper (MX, SRX), Dell Force10, Fortinet, MikroTik, and Vyatta.

  4. Cloud & Virtualization
Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack, Proxmox, VMware, and CloudStack.

  5. Security & Reliability
DDoS mitigation, network security, high-availability architecture, and resilient infrastructure design.

  6. Monitoring & Observability
Cacti, Nagios, Zabbix, and infrastructure monitoring.

  7. Automation & Systems Administration
Ansible, Linux server administration, scripting, and all those interesting (sometimes boring) things that keep infrastructure alive.

I’m particularly interested in making infrastructure more reliable, efficient, secure, and easier to operate — because good infrastructure is not just about technology; it’s about enabling people and businesses to do more.
